Division Chief of General Internal Medicine

Bassett Healthcare Network, a progressive health care system in Central New York and major teaching affiliate of Columbia University, is seeking a Division Chief of General Internal Medicine in Cooperstown.  We are looking for a dynamic individual who will provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the Division of Internal Medicine.  The Division of Internal Medicine provides both in-patient and ambulatory internal medicine services located in Cooperstown. The Cooperstown campus is the major site for providing our Internal Medicine residents their ambulatory and in-patient clinical experience for which the Division of Internal Medicine provides a significant responsibility for the supervision and oversight. In addition to maintaining their own clinical practice, the Chief of the Division will be expected to take an active role in the education of residents in addition to providing clinical and administrative leadership of the clinical enterprise that provides approximately 35,000 clinic visits annually.

• Candidates must have a strong interest in clinical teaching as well as General Internal Medicine and/or Geriatrics
• Primarily outpatient oriented with opportunities for inpatient / attending activity
• No call – a first call system in n place with a nurse practitioner/physician assistant on call for your patients
• With a faculty appointment from Columbia University, there is daily interaction with medical students as well as Internal Medicine and Transitional residents
